Scone Service Operator v1.3

This release introduces support for major Scone Release 6.0, including significant improvements such as support for Intel® SGX PCS API version 4.

Users are strongly encouraged to upgrade to this version to benefit from the latest features and security improvements.

Key Features, Improvements and Important Changes

  • Support for Scone Services 6.0: Now supports Intel® SGX PCS API version 4. Intel® SGX PCS API versions 2 and 3 will reach End Of Life by 30 April 2026.
  • Deprecation of Scone Services 5.8.0 and 5.9.0: Support for these versions is deprecated in v1.3 and will be not supported anymore by 31 October 2025.

Deprecation and End-of-Life

Scone Service Operator versions 1.1 and 1.2 are deprecated with this release and will be not supported anymore by 31 October 2025.

Background: Scone Services versions 5.8.0 and 5.9.0 will reach their End Of Life on 31 October 2025. Upgrading to Scone Service Operator v1.3 and Scone Services 6.0 is required no later than 31 October 2025.

Recommendation

Please upgrade to latest Scone Service Operator v1.3 and latest Scone Services 6.0 as soon as possible and no later than 31 October 2025 to prevent outages from sconified applications. Further details on the upgrade can be found in the Scone User Guide. Re-Sconifying your applications to use the new Intel® SGX PCS API version 4 is not necessary to benefit from the latest features and security improvements.

Upgrade Notes

Upgrading to Scone Service Operator v1.3 requires careful consideration of the changes introduced in this release. Refer to the Scone User Guide for detailed instructions. Use latest release of Scone Service Operator v1.3.x for the upgrade.

We also recommend upgrading to latest supported Scone Services to version 6.0.x as soon as possible. Ensure you have upgraded before the End Of Life of Scone Service 5.8.0 and 5.9.0 on 31 October 2025.

Scone Service Operator v1.3.x supports upgrading Scone Services from versions 5.8.0 and 5.9.0 to version 6.0.x. See the Scone User Guide for details.

Important:

With using Intel® SGX PCS API version 4 in Scone Services 6.0.x, this version introduces an expanded advisory framework that equips users with granular, actionable security status information directly integrated into the attestation process. This more advanced and extended advisories might impact your attestation policies. Users are encouraged to check their attestation policies.
